The Beauty of Simplicity: Positivism

Crisis intervention is not necessarily something for licensed professionals.  We can be our own crisis counselors.

There are a lot of reasons a person can feel bad.  Failures, abuse, and other stress can lead to pain and suffering.

The encouraging news is that we can help ourselves.  We all have the ability to think, organize, plan, and act.

Using these abilities we can change our attitude from a negative one to a positive attitude.  This means we can be Positive, Optimistic, and Realistic. Positive means seeing the good in life.  Realizing that we can help ourselves by having good thoughts is an example of being Positive. When we realize we have the abilities to confront life, we start to have hope.  This is an example of optimism. Being realistic means being aware of our true challenges, being grateful for what we have, and enjoying what we have in life and enjoying life.

I am a firm believer that we can think ourselves happy. Part of the job is liking ourselves.  We should like ourselves.  We are valuable because we have values.

Now, I know that current life realities make life difficult for some people.  People want to work, but cannot find a job.  People want to feel good at work, but there are people who make life work difficult.

Work is a good thing.  With work we make money, pay our responsibilities, and can save in order to enjoy life.

Part of enjoying life is simple pleasures.  Some of these pleasures are friends, family, spouse, reading, and listening to music.

I am aware that some will accuse me of being too simplistic.  I believe in the beauty of simplicity.
The modern message is a complex one.  There are many sources of negativity.  Conversations with our peer group, news media, TV, Movies, and music are laden with negativity.

In addition, we were told if we study hard and got a college degree, everything would work out.  Many of us tried this plan and found out it wasn't completely true.
The failure is not the issue.  How we define the failure and how we view ourselves are the issues. It would have been great if everyone got all the wisdom they would need to manage life from their parents.  Unfortunately, however, many of us were not that lucky.

We are fortunate enough to think, organize, plan, and act.  Therefore, we can use these skills to put things in perspective.  Life may look hard and distress us.  However, we are here and have to make the best of life. I believe it is helpful to proceed forward with a good attitude.  Regardless of circumstances we should enjoy life.
